Brouage, suite photographique…

Michelle Héon

June 9 - July 7, 2001

From June 9 to July 7, Michelle Héon is back at Gallery Three Points to present us his latest production.

In 1997, Michelle Héon was invited to participate in a course of installations as part of the event “Magic of a great site” in Brouage, a village near Rochefort (Charente-Maritime). Re-updated between 1997 and 1999, the artist’s installation remained on the site, which has since been used as an open-air laboratory. The latter allows the artist to observe the evolution of the elements and materials: the boats gradually sink into the marsh water, the salty air has crystallized a deposit of salt and contributed to the transition from blue to white denim covering the frames. Delivered at the time, the site evolves naturally.

From this outdoor facility, the Green Lentil Photographic Suite was taken in July. Here, the reflections of the boats on the water are omnipresent. Performed a month later, the red lentil suite accounts for the decomposition of green lenses into a bloody powdery material. Although related to these two photographic suites, the two small photographs are of another nature, a kind of window on the imaginary.
