Late Landscape

Galerie Trois Points is very pleased to present the first solo exhibition of Tomasz Szadkowski’s works. Late Landscape will be held from March 28 to April 21.
Born in Poland, Szadkowski moved to Canada nearly ten years ago. He graduated from Concordia University with a master’s degree in photography in 2006. His work rapidly caught the attention of the Montreal art milieu. He participated in many collective shows, such as Fait à Montréal-Made, presented in 2006 at Musée Juste pour Rire, curated by Marc Séguin. His work also has been exhibited at Galerie Trois Points, the Parisian Laundry and the Stewart Hall Gallery in Pointe-Claire.
Throughout his photographic work, Szadkowski explores different types of mental imprints, seen as learning forms. He is interested in those left on the different levels of individual’s memories and the consequences over their perception of the world. Using photography, the artist questions the problematic of the physical, mental and emotional manifestations of imprinting on people and their surrounding.
Tomasz Szadkowski’s most recent production explores the making process of connections between individual experiences and collective responsibilities. Contained in previous endeavor, the artist articulates this work around the issue of singular identities through a process of imprinting. For the new photographs, Szadkowski interprets the landscape in a broad way and uses it to illustrate his questions about our responsibilities and the impacts of our actions over the environment.
