Moonwalkers – Art from the Pastoral toward the Esoteric

Galerie Trois Points is pleased to announce its newest exhibition, from January 11 to February 15, 2014: between shamanism and New Age irony, Moonwalkers brings improbable mysteries to the spaces of Galerie Trois Points.

A project initiated by Paul Brunet, Guillaume Clermont and Mathieu Lévesque, the exhibition also features works by Barry Allikas, Marigold Santos, Chloé Savoy and Éric Simon. The opening takes place on Saturday January 11 from 3 to 6pm. The artists will be in attendance.

At the dawn of civilization our intrepid ancestors, surely bothered by the tragedy of their sad circumstances, freely followed their wicked imaginations. Primitive societies of the time devoted great energy and wisdom to depicting their fears and dreams. Sacred trinkets here, funerary idols there – deliriously painting their joys and their hallucinations, these shamans and free-thinkers of old recorded and interpreted their lives and the world around them.

From a strictly anthropological point of view, there has always been a direct link – even a common destiny – between art and esotericism. This connection, though it may have waxed and waned through the centuries from sanctuary caves to New Age movements, by way of Freemasonry and Walter Benjamin, still endures today.
